KUALA LUMPUR, June 5 (Bernama) -- Three members of the Ikatan Kalam Utama Silat Organisation (PIKUM) were recently given awards for their contributions to self defence at an international self defence symposium in the United States.
Kalam Utama Silat founder Grandmaster Professor Dr Zahalan Man was awarded the 'Historical Member Award', PIKUM patron Datuk Shahul Hamid M.A. Bakar the 'National Leadership Award' and Sheikh Shahawal Ali Sheikh Kamaruddin the 'National Convention Award.'
The awards were given at the 16th International Self Defence Symposium held at San Antonio, Texas from May 23-24, Datuk Shahul Hamid said in a statement here Thursday.
Tourism Minister Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said and Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Ismail Sabri Yaakob were awarded the 'International Leadership Award' in recognition of their leadership quality.
